California Proposition 64, Adult Use of Marijuana Act 2016

According to the California Proposition 64, regarding Adult Use of Marijuana Act of 2016, you cannot lawfully purchase marijuana, weed, or cannabis until January 01, 2018. In order to do so, you must be 21 years or older. However, this proposition does not apply to Medical Marijuana Card holders, even if you are under the age of 21.

Starting January 01, 2018, you can purchase weed from a licensed vendor. As of today, Californians can possess up to 28.5 grams of weed and can grow up to six (6) marijuana plants for both recreational and personal use. According to California law, it is currently illegal to purchase marijuana in any way, shape, or form unless you possess a Medical Marijuana Card.

Persons arrested in a public place for marijuana purposes can be fined $100 plus penalties, and persons arrested near schools can be fined $250 plus penalties. Minors under age 21 who violate the rules shall be required to complete drug education counseling and up to 10 hours of community service.
